We are excited to announce the launch of our new initiative aimed at fostering a bike-friendly community & promoting local businesses. Introducing Bike Friendly FBX!
We are collaborating with local businesses to make our city more accessible & convenient for users of the non-motorized network. Through this program, our goal is to promote a network of establishments that warmly welcome bicyclists through customer incentive programs, employee incentive programs, & infrastructure for bike storage & safety.
The first step in this endeavor is to get business owner input. The survey we are distributing to businesses will help us provide valuable insight on the biking infrastructure & services available in the area. We want to map it!
But that’s not all! As part of the program, we are introducing a Repair Kit Program. We are collaborating with Bankstown Bike & Ski (BTBS) to outfit 15 local businesses that have agreed to host bike repair kits on their premises with BTBS Approved Parktool Advanced Mechanic Kits!
These kits will include essential tools & equipment to assist cyclists in minor repairs & adjustments while on the go. Having these kits strategically located throughout the city will ensure that cyclists have easy access to the resources they need, promoting safety & convenience.
To show our appreciation to these participating businesses, we are offering a sponsorship opportunity. For a nominal fee of $75, businesses will have their logos prominently displayed on our official Bikeways Map. This map will be widely circulated within the community, both in print & online, serving as a guide for locals & tourists alike to locate repair kits & discover supportive establishments. The sponsorship fee will directly contribute to the maintenance & expansion of the program, allowing us to create an even more bike-friendly environment.
We also will acknowledge businesses as a FAST Planning Designated Bike Friendly Business with a decal medallion for your storefront!
Businesses who participate in Bike Friendly FBX will not only demonstrate their commitment to community engagement but also attract the growing number of cyclists in our area.
