FAST Planning and the Fairbanks North Star Borough (FNSB) are partnering up to improve the coordination between public transportation and human service providers in the community.
FAST Planning is updating the FNSB’s Short- and Long-Term Transit Plan and the Coordinated Human Services Transportation Plan (CHSTP) as an essential step in improving transportation for all users. These two plans are being updated together to ensure their development processes use the same, current data and incorporate public input more effectively.

We are updating these plans with the intent of coordinating transportation services between participating stakeholders to fulfill the requirements of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, as enacted in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and Enhanced Mobility for Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities (Section 5310) Program.
An updated, complete, and effective CHSTP with associated implementation strategies is essential in obtaining FTA 5310 grant funding through the FAST Act, which requires projects to be derived from a locally developed, coordinated plan.

With a synchronized system, transportation programs would share resources, facilities, and information, harmonizing trip reservations, scheduling, dispatching, and passenger trips.
